A lively social, cultural and sporting programme is in action throughout the year, with activities to suit just about every interest.

Bookworms
Enjoy reading? Or perhaps you are a theatre, film or music buff. Maybe exhibitions are your choice or perhaps politics? Whatever your interests, Etz Chayim Bookworms is the group for you. Bookworms generally meets on the last Sunday in the month to review the previous month's book choices. The gatherings are informal as many people have not got the time to read the 'official' choice or prefer to read something else, or have one of the other interests mentioned above. A monthly newsletter and book list are available, as are books to borrow. For more information, look in Davar.

Current Affairs
An informal group which meets on the third Thursday of the month to discuss topical issues.

The Etz Chayim Gallery
The Etz Chayim Gallery, housed in the Osorio Hall, is a beautiful venue for a great variety of exhibitions, mounted throughout the year. More ...

Events Group
The group has a twin role – to enhance the social life of the Synagogue and to raise necessary funds. A lively and varied programme runs throughout the year.

Lecture & Lunch
Monthly cultural event with high calibre speakers, opportunity for questions and good discussion over lunch.

Oaklands Drama Group
Usually has two productions in the year. New members are always welcome.

Singing Group
An informal group who sing for their own enjoyment and occasionally lead the singing in services. All abilities are very welcome.

Social Action Group
Raises awareness of current issues as well as raising funds and providing goods and services for both members and the wider community.

Tuesday Club
Meets every Tuesday afternoon (except the first one of the month) for discussions and chat, followed by tea.

Youth Drama
The NPLS Spectrum Youth Theatre Company is a thriving group which performs, among other venues, at the Edinburgh Fringe. More information on their website: www.npls-spectrum.co.uk.

Sporting

Cricket Team
The NPLS cricket team continues to do well and welcomes new members.

Golf Society

Usually two tournaments are held each year, at a local golf club. The Society is open to all Synagogue members who are of a reasonable standard.
