Weekend of the 13th-15th of November 2009

NPLS Projects

Cheder- Education in Action!

Building on the success of last year’s project, this year the youngest Cheder classes, together with the junior choir, will be entertaining the more senior members of our community. Guests will enjoy refreshments, a special prayer service, and a show put on especially for them. The refreshments will be prepared by students and their parents.

This year, Liberal Judaism, in partnership with Christian Aid, will take a delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December. They will be campaigning for fair legislation that will also favour developing countries. In response, many projects in Cheder will also be based around climate change. Some of the classes will write letters and make posters for the LJ delegation to take to Copenhagen, and one of the classes will be teaching the youngest about climate change. The previous week students will be addressed by educators from Christian Aid’s Countdown to Copenhagen Campaign.

On Sunday the 15th from around 11 am, the KT class will be collecting non-perishable groceries at Waitrose for the aid of the Northwood Live at Home Scheme, together with Confirmation students from St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church Northwood. If you’re doing your shopping on Sunday, please try to buy extra groceries to give to the students.

Adults – What Can You Do?

Meals are to be placed in the Care freezer which is found on the big kitchen. If you have any questions contact Jackie on 01923 269 100.
