Bar and Bat Mitzvah

Adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies are encouraged.
Kabbalat Torah
Dating back to the very foundations of Progressive Judaism in the early 19th century,
Kabbalat Torah both recognises religious equality for men and women in Judaism
and the fact that at 15 or 16 a person has matured to a point where they are better
able to make a more reasoned affirmation of their Jewish identity. We also know
that the years following Bar/Bat Mitzvah are of vital importance in the development
of a mature religious awareness. Classes are held from Bar and Bat Mitzvah, culminating
in the ceremony created jointly by the students and the Rabbis.
In the Kabbalat Torah year, students have the option to prepare for and take GCSE
Religious Studies - Judaism.
Adult Education
Classes and group sessions are held throughout the year on a wide and varied range
of subjects. |
